James N. Procter II

James N. Procter II graduated with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1977. After graduation, he attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in June 1980. He was admitted to the California Bar in December 1980.

Mr. Procter has specialized in complex public entity and insurance defense litigation for more than 30 years. He has tried dozens of lawsuits to verdict in state and federal court. He also has extensive experience in mediation and arbitration. His primary areas of specialty involve claims of dangerous conditions on public and private property, police liability, premises liability and construction accidents with serious injuries, serious motor vehicle accidents, FEHA actions, employment litigation, and inverse condemnation.

Mr. Procter is a member of the Santa Barbara County, Ventura County and California State Bar Associations, as well as the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association, Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is also a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Advance Trial Advocacy Skills Program.

Mr. Procter has also as an arbitrator and mediator for the Ventura County Superior Court. He is the only defense lawyer ever to receive the Trial Lawyer of the Year (2009) award from the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association.
